From board to piece

The wood shop is where raw lumber becomes furniture, fixtures, and finished projects—using saws, jointers, planers, and hand tools side by side.

You measure, cut, flatten, and join stock by hand and with stationary machines. Dust collection, push sticks, and hearing protection are part of everyday shop practice.

Makers build tables, cabinets, frames, jigs, toys, and repair pieces—anything that starts as board stock and needs clean cuts and solid joinery.

At Rochester Makerspace, members use the wood shop after any required training.
